4 December 2024

Taking the opportunity of the meeting of the Financial Stability Board (FSB) Plenary being held in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Academy of Finance (AoF) invited a few top global financial officials attending the meeting to give an exclusive seminar on 4 December 2024.

The closed-door seminar on “Priorities and Challenges in Maintaining Global Financial Stability”, was moderated by Eddie Yue, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Chairman of the AoF, and featured as panel speakers Ayman Al-Sayari, Governor of the Saudi Central Bank; Agustín Carstens, General Manager of the Bank for International Settlements; Klaas Knot, President of De Nederlandsche Bank and Chair of the Financial Stability Board; and François Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Banque de France. The seminar was attended by both AoF Members and FSB Plenary Members and their delegates.

During the seminar, the panel speakers shared their perspectives on global and regional financial stability priorities and challenges, including the implications for financial stability arising from geopolitics, non-bank financial intermediation, and technological innovation. The seminar also provided an opportunity for FSB Members attending the seminar and market participants to exchange views directly with each other.
