Distinguished Speakers Series – Julia Leung, Chief Executive Officer, Securities and Futures Commission (SFC)

The AoF held a conversation session with Julia Leung, CEO of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) on 30 May 2023.  The session was moderated by Arthur Yuen, Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Deputy Chairman of the Academy. 

  

 

Julia shared the story of her impressive career as a female leader, her insights on the recent banking crisis, green and sustainable finance, and Hong Kong as an international financial centre, among other topics.  As the SFC’s new regime for Virtual Asset Trading Platform Operators is becoming effective on 1 June 2023, we also tapped Julia’s views on Hong Kong’s policy towards virtual assets and how to balance investor protection and market development.

The conversation was conducted in hybrid format, and was broadcast online.
