AoF/HKIMR-IMF-BIS-AMRO Joint Conference on “Safeguarding Global Financial Stability in a New Era”

15-16 July 2024

The AoF/HKIMR, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) jointly hosted a conference on “Safeguarding Global Financial Stability in a New Era” on 15-16 July 2024 in Hong Kong.

In his welcoming remarks, Darryl Chan, Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, pointed out that maintaining financial stability is one of the most important mandates for central banks. He highlighted the importance for central banks to continuously review and refine the tools and frameworks for monitoring potential risks and vulnerabilities that threaten financial stability.

Fabio Natalucci, Deputy Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of IMF delivered a keynote speech on “Global Financial Stability Outlook”, while Benoit Mojon, Head of Economic Analysis of the Monetary and Economic Department of BIS delivered a keynote speech on “The Contribution of Monetary Policy to Disinflation and Challenges Ahead”. The conference brought together distinguished speakers from around the world, including European Central Bank, The World Bank, Bank of England, The People's Bank of China and academia, to share their views and analyses.
