ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook (AREO) 2024: “Navigating Tomorrow”

The AoF/HKIMR and ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) jointly organised a seminar titled “ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook 2024: Navigating Tomorrow” on 18 April 2024.

Enoch Fung, CEO of AoF and Executive Director of HKIMR, welcomed the AMRO delegation to do the outreach in Hong Kong, and emphasized the importance for collaboration and knowledge exchanges between AMRO and AoF/HKIMR. Allen Ng, Group Head and Principal Economist of AMRO, presented “ASEAN+3 Regional Economic Outlook (AREO) 2024”, focusing on the AMRO’s latest assessment for the region, followed by a panel discussion on “Navigating tomorrow”. The panel discussion was moderated by Senior Economist Marthe Hinojales from AMRO. Four panellists shared their views on key risks and opportunities of the regional economy, and how the region can best navigate the current economic environment amid the uncertainties.

The panellists include Hoe Ee Khor, Chief Economist of AMRO, Sally Chen, Regional Adviser of BIS, Jing Liu, Managing Director and Chief Greater China Economist of HSBC Global Research and Geng Xiao, Director of Institute of Policy and Practice of Shenzhen Finance Institute and Professor of Practice of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen).

The seminar was attended by about 50 participants in person.
